Most copy-trading incidents are not connectivity failures. They are risk failures: a follower keeps copying after the account should have stopped.
Pre-trade checks
- Maximum position size per symbol and per account.
- Maximum open positions and daily order count.
- Allowed symbols and trading sessions.
Account-level protection
Equity protection closes all copied positions when the account drawdown reaches a configured threshold. The check runs before each new order.
Kill switches
Operators need a single action that stops replication for one account, one strategy or the whole tenant. The switch must be enforced at the bridge, not only in the dashboard.
Design the failure path first: when risk data is stale, the safe default is to stop copying.
