MT4 and MT5 are not two versions of the same protocol. They differ in order filling, symbol metadata and hedging rules. A copy engine must translate intent, not just relay orders.
Intent-based replication
We translate the master order into an intent: open, increase, reduce or close, with a target exposure. The follower side then applies its own broker constraints.
Volume and leverage mapping
- Normalise contract size before computing follower volume.
- Respect each account's maximum lot and margin level.
- Reject rather than silently partially fill when risk limits are breached.
Hedging versus netting
Netting accounts cannot hold opposite positions on the same symbol. The engine aggregates exposure and emits a single net order.
What to monitor
Track rejected orders by reason, symbol mapping misses and margin-driven partial closes. These three metrics surface most cross-platform issues before followers notice them.
